The SolPro Igbo Language Program is designed to help learners speak, read, and understand Igbo confidently, whether for cultural reconnection, relocation, travel, business, or personal growth.
This program blends practical conversation, grammar foundations, cultural immersion, and guided interactions with native speakers.

From simple greetings to advanced conversations, storytelling, proverbs, and idiomatic expressions, this course takes you from absolute beginner to advanced-level fluency.
No prior experience is required, just passion and willingness to learn one of Africa’s richest and most expressive languages.

Admission Requirements

Educational Background

No certificate or prior language training required. Anyone can enrol.

Work Experience

Not required. Perfect for beginners, return learners, and heritage speakers.

Language Proficiency

The training is delivered in English and Igbo, so basic English comprehension is needed for explanations and instructions.

Assessment

Required only for learners who want to join intermediate or advanced levels directly.
A free study kit is provided to help you prepare.

The entry assessment evaluates:

Program Structure (Total Duration: 8 Months)

Beginner Level – 2 Months

Foundations of Igbo Language & Communication

  • Introduction to Igbo language and cultural significance

  • Learning Igbo alphabet (A–Z) and correct tonal pronunciation

  • Everyday greetings and simple expressions

  • Numbers, colours, time, days, months

  • Talking about yourself, family, home, and daily activities

  • Forming simple sentences and asking basic questions

  • Listening and pronunciation practice with native speakers

  • Beginner projects: simple dialogues, voice notes, vocabulary practice

Intermediate Level – 3 Months

Building Confidence & Conversational Fluency

  • Constructing longer, more structured sentences

  • Describing events, experiences, hobbies, and places

  • Understanding and applying common Igbo proverbs (ilu)

  • Improving fluency using natural intonation and rhythm

  • Reading short passages, stories, and dialogues

  • Grammar focus: tenses, pronouns, possessives, negations

  • Conversational practice with native speakers

  • Intermediate projects: storytelling, dialogue recordings, short writing tasks

Advanced Level – 3 Months

Fluent Communication, Reading & Cultural Literacy

  • Engaging in spontaneous, fluent conversations on various topics

  • Mastering idioms, slangs, and deeper cultural expressions

  • Reading newspapers, folktales, and intermediate Igbo literature

  • Writing essays, narratives, and formal messages in Igbo

  • Advanced listening exercises (songs, speeches, films, podcasts)

  • Interpretation and translation basics (English ↔ Igbo)

  • Understanding regional dialectal differences

  • Capstone project: full conversation recording, cultural presentation, or story narration
